Why Hell?
Updated: August 6, 2025
Because eternal evil is real, and it should not be allowed to exist everywhere. In Matthew 25:31-46, Jesus revealed that the “everlasting fire” was “prepared for the devil and his angels.” However, as He also explains in the same passage, some people will end up there too. In John 3:18-21 NLT Jesus further explains that faith in Jesus (See Why Born Again?) is all one needs to escape the judgment that is coming on all those who love evil (both man and demon). It’s not hard…unless you “love darkness more than light.”
How could God do this to His creation? How could He let it happen? Shouldn’t He just somehow make everyone turn from evil? Here’s why: He created a universe in which choice matters, where every effect has a cause. The universe we know would collapse if this weren’t so. (See also Why Judgment?)
