Why Sin?

Sin is simply breaking the law. This can happen whether one is conscious of the law or not. Also sin’s consequences still happen whether one is conscious of them or not. Do the consequences of sin recognize age, status, or lineage? No, any more than gravity or the laws of physics bend for those factors. Sin is a cause with a negative effect. If this weren’t true, it would not be sin.

The Bible book of Romans is a long explanation of both sin and righteousness, and a successful Christian life requires that you understand and believe its message. To summarize: Jesus’ once-and-for-all sacrifice made us righteous. By faith, we accept this and are justified, taking ourselves out of the Kingdom of Darkness and becoming born anew into the Kingdom of God. Then all the promises of God apply to us! We should no longer live as slaves to sin (we still have a choice whether or not to do so), and should not be comfortable with identifying as a “sinner”. A sinner is one who is known to sin and has a habit of sinning. Their lifestyle is one of ever ignoring and then trying to escape the laws of nature, like swimming in a shark tank hoping to escape what will unavoidably kill them.
